Homer married Ruth F. Michaelis in 1940. For a lot more information about Ruth and the Michaelis Family, click here.

Homer was inducted into the military (ARMY) in 1945. He spent 6 years in the National Guard, and spent one year in Korea. The ship he took to Korea and back was the US Marine Phoenix. To see pictures of the ship Homer took to (and from) Korea, click here.

Homer was the eleventh of thirteen children. Only Howard and Virginia were younger than Homer.  Although the Stier/Stair family lived at what are now the Wern Farms in the Town of Genesee when he was first born, Homer spent the majority of his childhood at the Stair farm at the north east corner of Hwy "I" and Hwy 83 in the Town of Mukwonago.  To see more pictures of the farm, click here. Homer attended school at the one room school house across Hwy 83 on the north west corner of Hwys "I" and 83.

The photo above is at the one room school house on the northwest corner of Hwys "I" and 83. This photo was taken in the late 1920's or early 1930's. How I deduced the approximate date, is that Ruth Michaelis ('B' in the photo) graduated high school as a senior in 1938. Because she looks so young in this picture, the photo must be from the late 1920's or early 1930's. As of the time that this website is started, the school house still stands as of summer of 2015. Please note in the picture above I spelled Miss Matz name wrong- her (the teacher's) name was Marie Matz.

Homer Floyd Stair was born on June 2, 1919 to parents George Stair and Josephine ne'e Jacobson Stair. Homer had said that he was born in the farmhouse which still stands just east of the railroad tracks at Wern Farms on County Hwy D in the Town of Genesee in Waukesha County.
