The November 16th , 1907 article has the headline of : "Nearly Lost Their Lives" the article says: "Louis Wagner and Allie Rothering were as close to death for a short time Tuesday evening as they cared to be. Thanks to the heroic work of Chas E. Reed, Robert Zabler, George Stier and a few others they are alive today. The young men [Wagner and Rothering] are employed as clerks in the store of C.G. Foltz & Son, and about 5:30 o'clock Tuesday evening went to the mill pond to take out a boat and put it up for the winter. They rowed out into the stream nearly two hundred feet, when the boat struck a stump or a log and a board in the bottom of the boat was stove in. The boat filled with water immediately and sank under them. Their calls for help were heard by Mr. Reed and others who hurried to their assistance. But this was no easy matter. No boat was near, and when a scow was procured it was found this was badly waterlogged. But the scow was manned and reached Wagner and Rothering when they were about to give up. They had clung to the sides of the boat until they were numb with the cold and nearly exhausted. They were unable to swim on the account of the weight of their clothing, both wearing overcoats.
When they were brought to shore by their rescuers, both men fell to the ground unconscious. They were carried to the home of Mr. Reed, where Drs. Prouty and Newell, assisted by Mrs. Reed and others worked over them for all they were worth. Wagner regained consciousness about 8 o'clock, and about an hour later Rothering opened his eyes to find he was still in the land of the living."

On Tuesday November 12, 1907 George Stier and a few other people saved the lives of two men who were drowning in freezing cold water. The Burlington Standard Democrat newspaper printed an article about the life saving heroics on the front page of their November 16, 1907 edition. The following is a copy of the 1907 article. I will also type below the article exactly what it says, as the article is somewhat hard to read.
